Theta Bolts into Action with Wind Farm Monitoring Success

Company News News 312

Theta has recently completed the installation and commissioning of a wireless bolt monitoring system at a 3MW direct-drive mountain wind farm in Guangdong. The system focuses on monitoring critical tower flange bolts of the wind turbines.

Theta deployed its proprietary SA210 wireless bolt loosening sensors, with 24 sensors installed per turbine across 17 turbines, totaling 408 monitored bolts. Sensor data is transmitted via the wind farm’s network to Theta’s cloud-based monitoring platform, enabling remote tracking of bolt loosening conditions and trends. The system automatically issues alerts when the rotation angle exceeds preset thresholds.

The SA210 sensor features cable-free installation, ultra-low power consumption (over 10 years of battery life), and high reliability. A single turbine installation takes less than one hour, making the solution significantly more efficient and cost-effective than traditional wired systems.

The system is now fully operational and provides continuous, real-time insights to enhance turbine safety and reduce maintenance risks through intelligent bolt health management.
